Puna Mining has obtained the environmental permit and could lead the fifth lithium project in the Salta Puna region.

In June 2024, the province of Salta added a new lithium project, the fifth in its territory, ready to enter production. This will be possible after the Salta Ministry of Mining and Energy issued the Environmental Impact Statement for the project operated by Puna Mining S.A. in the Rincón salt flat. The evaluation process included citizen participation through a public hearing, held by the Ministry of Production and Sustainable Development, and prior consultation within the framework of ILO Convention 169, through the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs.
